Frequently Asked Questions about the DizzyFIX

Does the DizzyFIX really work?

Yes. Two separate studies, one by Clearwater Clincial and one by ENT doctors at the University of Western Ontario, have been conducted involving both healthy volunteers and patients with BPPV. Results indicate that the DizzyFIX is an effective aid in performing the treatment maneuver for BPPV and that patients with BPPV were able to treat themselves 88% of the time using the device. The age of the patients ranged from 35 to 75 years. Only people with severe neck problems or very poor mobility were unable to complete the maneuver.

It treats an episode of BPPV. Currently the most common treatment for BPPV is a special series of head maneuvers. The DizzyFIX guides users through these manoevures. While the this maneuver can cure BPPV, the disease is chronic and may recur in up to 50% of people. Fortunately with the DizzyFIX, the maneuver can be repeated as needed. No. The device itself is surprisingly simple. The device does also come with complete instructions and a helpful DVD which provides a video demonstration. We recommend that you have another person with you to help out if needed.

How quickly does the DizzyFIX work?

Most users find immediate relief following use of the DizzyFIX. In most cases symptoms of BPPV should be immediately absent if the maneuver was conducted correctly. In some cases the maneuver may need to be repeated.

How often should I use the DizzyFIX?

The DizzyFIX device need only be used when a person has symptoms consistent with BPPV. Our recommended treatment regimen is that people use the device twice a day for one week. You may stop earlier if their symptoms have resolved. If at any time other symptoms arise which are not described as part of BPPV you should immediately seek medical attention. In the event that symptoms persist we would recomment taking the device to your physician for help with the maneuver and for further medical workup.
